NI HAO from the great land of China!!!
I’m writing this from an undisclosed location in the most populous nation on the planet! The eyes of the world are on this land, boasting over 20% of the world’s total population (1.3 billion) and the fastest growing economy as the 2008 Olympics ignite this Friday and the nations flock to the capital city of Beijing. Our team has been here for the past week planting BURN furnaces among the thriving, hungry, and persecuted underground church. We have been on a wild, glorious, fruitful journey together witnessing this flame of vertical and Davidic worship take root and become indigenous among the Chinese in several provinces. The culmination will take place in Beijing. As the world watches the Olympic torch lit during the opening ceremony, we will be tucked away with the tribe igniting the flame of BURNING worship and prayer on behalf of China and its 1.1 billion lost souls. Please continue to pray and contend for us..We need it now more than ever!!

teaching of the month“Nothing Better To Do” - by Caleb Klinge - Director, BURN BAY AREA As we sit in the 5th floor of a Shenzhen skyscraper, the beautiful fragrance of worship rises from a Chinese church who really knows what it means to have Jesus Christ be her first love. We are in the 23rd hour of the first Burn in China, the beginning of non-stop worship and prayer in this city. The room is still packed full. They just asked us to stay after the 24 hours is completed and move into a teaching and impartation time. There is so much joy and passion in the family of God here. In this sweet atmosphere of God’s presence, I am painfully aware of my lack of passion. Like arteries that harden over time from an unhealthy diet, my heart has grown hard. Though painful, it’s a precious gift to even be aware of my condition. The Spirit of the Lord is inviting me out of my cool, passionless posture to a fresh place of brokenness. When we westerners hear about extended gatherings in poor, third-world countries, we often remark that the people have “nothing else to do”. “If they lived here in the states, it would be different; you can’t compare the two”. We say this and other things like it to ease our consciences from the dealing with the real reasons we react against spending too much time in worship, church meetings, serving, or simply living for Jesus. Shrouding our actions in words such as “balance”, we drown out the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, who beckons us to return to our first love. The people aren’t here today because they have nothing else or “nothing better to do” (as if there was something better to do than worship Jesus!). They are busy. And they’re normal people with normal problems. Businessmen and businesswomen have come in, spent hours, and gone back to work (it’s the middle of the week). Families with young children have spent time here. This city rivals any western city for its size and technology. iPods are MacBooks are made here. 20 percent of China’s PHDs live in this city. There are malls everywhere. The people have a lot they could be doing. They just have their priorities right. Young and old, women and men, they are here because they want to be. No doubt, time is precious. But Jesus is worthy of our time being lavished on Him. It’s time to break the alabaster box of our schedules. I’m not talking about being irresponsible. Obviously we all have responsibilities in our careers, school, and family. But just consider free time. Are you willing to sit in a 2-hour movie without complaint, but then get upset when church goes over the allotted time? Do I spend more time on a weekly basis in Starbucks than in prayer? If we are generous with our entertainment-time and stingy with our Jesus-time, there is only one reason, and it’s not pretty. Our priorities are wrong and our hearts are hard. So come, and let us return to the Lord! |
blog of the month…“Burning Denver” -by Lucas and Anna, BURN DENVER On July 26th the city of Denver gathered for a massive Christian music festival called HeavenFest which pulled together over 70 Christian music bands over a 12 hour period—over 10,000 people gathered for this one event. But the focus of this event wasn’t good music. The heart behind HeavenFest was not to bring well known musician and have a good concert but to bring Jesus and see revival. So we contented for Jesus. People started having worship and intercession meetings once a week months out specifically focused on HeavenFest, 40 days out worship and prayer started nightly, and then the BURN ignited for 77 hours leading up to and through the festival. Two thousand years ago God in the flesh poured himself out as a sacrifice unto death and in three days the curse was broken. And now Two thousand years later, in a tent placed in the middle of a field with a generator and some Christmas lights, the sons of Adam and the daughters of Eve gathered together for three days of purely vertical prophetic radical worship. We shouted, wept, laid prostrate, and cried out saying “Jesus you have to come because we don’t have any other option. COME CHANGE DENVER IN A MOMENT”. Is that really possible? Can the city of my heart, the city of my youth change with one word from the King? Yes!! Because I serve the God that created the universe in an eternal moment, the said to the waves, and the sun, and the stars, and the sky go here, but no further. He is the God that saved my broken soul, healed my wounded heart, and loosened the chains that wrapped me so tightly. All we can do is cry out we make intercession with our piano and guitar on a hill just outside of the city and contend for his presence like David did with his harp in the hills as a Shepard. It is too simple; if we think anything else can change our cities we are fools blinded by darkness and lead by a lesser light. The Presence. The Presence. His Presence. He comes and everything changes. |

Burn China Update:
…we have ignition! The two Burns launched so far have had thick glory, and we have not had a dull moment in between!
Our trip so far has been full of supernatural meetings & Divine appointments. Even now as our team is traveling, a house church pastor with over 70 churches got on our bus. Even though the driver told him it was full, he insisted in getting on. As he walked passed us, he felt incredible peace. When he saw our translator reading her Bible, he came up and said, “I am a brother”. It gets better - He has been leading worship for 20 years and has a team of musicians that play indigenous Chinese instruments. We could see fire in his eyes as we spoke to him about the Burn, and he got on the phone and beginning making phone calls from the bus to get his team to the 3rd city where we will launch a 24-hour Burn on this trip. We are seeing this kind of thing repeated again and again.
In the midst of launching the burns, a lot of ministry is taking place. We’ve been with brothers and sisters that have suffered imprisonment and severe persecution. We’ve had dinner with homeless men that were brought off the street and to the Lord (they burned with us too!). Healings, Words of knowledge, prophecy – the Lord has used our small team to speak deep, prophetic encouragement to the family here including some influential leaders.
Our trip is halfway done. One of our team members said that there has been more ministry and outpouring in one evening on this trip than an entire week of when they were here last year. The atmosphere is charged, and the time is ripe!
We know that the favor, blessings, and guidance we are receiving so far on this trip is the result of prayer, so thank you for praying! The second half of the trip is the most risky. We’re ending the trip in Beijing, where the 4th furnace will be ignited. “Burn Beijing” – don’t you like the sound of that? New beginnings will ignite in Beijing on 08.08.08!! Please continue to lift us up in prayer – we seriously need you to partner with us and have a stake in this with us. 1.3 billion souls are hungry to know the One Who created them, and the Burn is a part of the strategy God has chosen to reach them.
Burn Wagon Update:
For over a year a group of young radicals have contended for Revival in the night hours of the Burn, releasing a new sound, and prophesying over their city and nation! Out of the flames of these prayer meetings God has wounded these “burning ones” with His heart for America. The dream to take the Burn mobile, to plant furnaces across the nation, and to light fires of revival are now a reality has this team is now well into their first week of Burning in four southern states and soon to ascend up the east coast releasing fire and then joining with thousands of their tribe for the Call D.C. This team is affectionately known as the “Burn Wagon”
Every place that the Burn Wagon has gone God has released a spirit of repentance during the times of worship! We have felt the ache in our Father’s heart over a nation that is destined for the fires of judgment if the church does not rise up! Night after night the Spirit of grace has urged people to their knees with groaning and weeping! I have never seen such an intensity in the hearts of people…a desperation for God to send His glory and for the church to rise up out of the ashes of religion.
Even in churches that seemingly are on the cutting edge of what God is doing we still have felt the sting of religion, works oriented Christianity, putrid pride, dulled hearts, and apathy that seems to be the veil over our nation! We realize the solution is not to hype these meetings and command people to press in but to simply worship the King and lean in to His presence to open our eyes to see our true condition! Seeing our true condition has left an ache in our hearts! It hurts to see the reality of who we have become as the church. However, we must face this reality, let it lead to godly sorrow and then to true repentance!
The hope that we have found are the hundreds of hidden away, hungry tribe of worshipers and intercessors who have been contending for this common purpose—Awakening!
God has a people that have not yielded to the spirit of the age and have sacrificed night after night of prayer to see this hope become a reality!
One of the major lessons God has taught us so far is to let go of our agenda, our strength, our know-how, our talent and to lean in to Him. Much of these lessons have come through our 1970 Greyhound bus that seems to be falling apart at the seams! Everything from the air-conditioning quitting, to the steering wheeling falling off, to the generator breaking down, and the air-breaks not working right have tested our reliance and trust in Him–and its working! We’ve let go of control and have let God lead us each place that we’ve gone. God gave us grace to lead four people to the Lord on the streets of Shreveport and New Orleans so far! God has given us the ability to let go of our talent and hype and let him lead in each night of worship!
As a result we are stepping out of our strength and into the supernatural! This group of young radicals has given me great hope! This is the generation he has chosen to carry this thing through to His return! They have fire, anointing and persistence that I have never seen before! Continue to pray for us as we endeavor to be vessels of His heart in each city that we will go to. Stay tuned for some video blogs and more pictures!
Burn Indonesia Update:
Sitting in our first Burn here in Pontianak, and it feels surreal. We could have never made this happen on our own, God has been opening door after door, and now tonight it is actually happening! Twenty different churches from all over the city are apart of this 24 hours of worship and intercession! The first time in this city anything like this has happened! It has been going on for only 5 hours so far, and already I am exhausted. Indonesians are crazy intense and just keep going! HaHaHa I love it so much.
