Here I sit watching the rays of the emerging dawn rising and reflecting off the tarmac at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Its that time of morning where a gentle stillness looms as the earth braces herself for another day full of humanities chaotic movements forced upon her.  I’m now in the heart of Southeast Asia and I’m totally wasted. My short weekend in Byron Bay, Australia was rich and full of incredible fire, love, and authentic beautiful relationship. That’s what I refer to as a “life-giving” experience instead the “life-draining” ones that are often encountered in these trips across the globe. This does not mean the latter trips are bad or not loads of fun…it just means you pour out a lot more than you get poured into.  I feel so at home with my friends in the Southern Hemisphere and that makes it hard to leave. They are most certainly my tribe.

Somewhere along the way in the church, people got the idea that a lifestyle of intense traveling with a rigorous schedule bringing the truth of the Gospel to many nations, cultures, and LONG LONG plane flights was a glamorous act and something to be envied. I have gotten that feeling from friends and strangers quite a bit the past two years.  But today as I’m sitting alone (without my beautiful wife : ) listening to Norah Jones in a massively empty terminal deep in the heart of this Muslim Malaysian capital after concluding my 5th red-eye international plane flight in the last month…its not so dreamy anymore. This is where it becomes a true labor of love. Many times this morning have I asked the Lord why I do this. I’m asking God the same questions even my closest friends have asked me over the past two years like: Why do you want to leave your wife so much? Don’t you think your priorities should be family-first? Isn’t that the scenario that has got people in trouble in the body of Christ right now? Are you truly following God’s will or your own driven-ness? And the most frequented – Don’t you all need to get time away on a vacation for crying out loud? Those are ALL valid questions from really good friends and I’ve been really giving them more thought and prayer lately. So I finally asked God again today. [Side note: I’m reading “the shack” right now and its completely rearranging my view of who God is and how He interacts with us…its been incredible - plug: you need to read it if you haven’t!].

So I asked the Lord in the midst of all the open doors, increased favor, rigorous schedule, and the many nations, nations, nations that are burning a hole deep in my heart…….God, are you IN all this craziness? We all should ask Him that from time to time to check our hearts and motives. Am I just becoming the hamster on the wheel with ministry? The word overextended brings a whole new meaning to Kate and my life right now. We are so thankful for all the amazing people God gathered in Dallas to add their flame to this blazing inferno family (Dave, Melissa, Tracey, Smiths, Mauldin’s, and many more!!! We love you and thank God for you and your dreams for global revival!) Its not that I’m burned out and spent spiritually or even emotionally…I actually fill fuller and deeper than ever before…but my mortal body is just struggling to keep up with the fire inside me. The constant word spoken over and over again to Kate and I from prophets, pastors, friends, leaders, and even little kids remains the same. Things are going to keep increasing! The verse from Isaiah “enlarge the place of your tent” has been spoken over us at least 50 times in the last year….no joke!!! Just a few days ago in the Burn Byron Bay this 5-year-old girl walks up and hands me this little cute crumbled note on a scrap of loose paper. On the outside she scribbled “Dear Sean” and on the inside there was a picture of a fire drawn with metallic purple and pink markers. Below her drawing of the fire it read: “the fire will get bigger.”

If that is not prophetic I don’t know what is. And it came at a time I am possibly thinking about cutting some things out of this insane fall schedule with many international trips and Burn launches around the globe still to come. I began to ask God for a confirmation to the little girl’s note along with the other words. We need it for Kate and my peace of mind as well those people and friends that keep asking (side note: We’re so happy we have friends that truly care about us!!).

The Lord clearly said to me “Do not become weary, Sean.”

So I responded back to him..”Too late God…I’m already weary, tired, and MISS MY WIFE!!”

I was then immediately brought to the verse below that states:

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” - Galations 6:9

The instant I said that memories and flashbacks flooded my mind from the past year that are forever burned in my memory. The fullness and joy in the song the Turks released during their midnight set as if something had been unlocked that was shut out for ages, the Africans passionately beating the drums into the night as orphans galore, sporting the widest smiles you’ve ever seen, were running and jumping in endless circles around the Burn in Uganda, the Chinese underground church as “dry kindling” with their tears, groans, and zeal truly catching the DNA of the BURN with urgency to bring it to every city in their nation.

Then came the lifeless faces of those caught in a veil of darkness and the depravity of Gods Presence on the Red Light District in Amsterdam, the massive rift between two brothers (Jews and Arabs) in Israel as they are consumed in hatred toward one another rejecting God’s forgiveness and perfect plan for them to coexist, the spirit of genocide raging in East Africa that has claimed over 9 million lives in the past decade, the church in the largest Muslim nation in the world (Indonesia) crying out for a release of the manifest Presence of God to break the thick veil of deception and terror on the nation..

That was enough explanation to last a lifetime. I was broken and consumed with the fear of God more than ever before in my life.

I want to encourage you all as we’re all on this journey together of having ourselves stretched beyond measure in a beautiful ministry of inconvenience…it’s a little uncomfortable now…but the reward at the end will be brilliant! Like it promises in Galatians…

…WE WILL REAP A HARVEST IF WE DO NOT GIVE UP.

Friends around the world and fellow countrymen,

I just wanted to shoot you a little video of all God is doing in Byron Bay, Australia and give you a peek inside the fiery hot BURN furnace we had this weekend!! It feels like home again with my friends here and its been an incredible time in the Presence of God. He has come and stoked our passion, love, and zeal for His face while we let the furnace of His love consume us down to the core of our character, integrity, and person. Bottom line - He is CHANGING AUSTRALIA and the nations of world will see His faithfulness!! There is a shift happening over this great south land as we gathered the tribe from all over the region and contended on the most Easterly point of the continent this weekend and proclaimed - THAT THE KING OF GLORY WOULD COME IN (Psalm 24)!!

FLAMING ARROWS OF LOVE

As the drums were beating loudly and powerfully I sensed a great army approaching from the heavens. I looked towards the sky and saw a big, solid stone, as from the tomb of Jesus, being rolled away, opening up heaven’s door.

Out marched hundreds of the Angel Armies of heaven – huge warrior angels with massive bows and arrows in hand.

The end of the arrows were not made of spears but were wrapped in the very cloth soaked in the embalming oil of Jesus from when he was buried.

Walking in front of the angel army was the Risen Lord, as a flaming fire like the BURNING BUSH, the great I AM, BURNING LOVE.

The angels placed the oiled cloth ends of their arrows into LOVE HIMSELF to ignite them with the BURNING FIRE OF LOVE.

As they marched carrying their flaming ARROWS OF LOVE they looked down to the earth to seek out their targets.

On the east coastline of Australia the Byron lighthouse shone brightly. But what shone more brightly were the even stronger lights of the burning, dancing worshippers around the lighthouse.

The angel’s attention was captured by these little BURNING BUSHES.

They lifted up their bows and started to shoot these FLAMING ARROWS OF GOD’S LOVE into the hearts of the people around this region.

As people’s lives were ignited with the FIRE OF GOD’S LOVE the fires started to spread across the nation from east to west.

“A Call to Persevere and Shine”

Shining Stars

Gazing out the window of the B747 fleeing LA and jumping the world’s largest pond (Pacific Ocean) bound for Sydney, I’m captivated and consumed by the stars blazing brightly in the midnight sky. They demand my attention. As an escape from the mayhem, chaos, and emotions of high school life, I would spend hours on sticky summer nights lying on the cool concrete slab in my Virginia backyard and just gaze and gaze. For some strange reason it would bring me face to face with God and renew my destiny for eternity. I would return from these moments in time refreshed and with a new sense of faith, hope, and vigor for my purpose on this spinning ball of dirt and air in the middle of a expansive galaxy. Absorbing in the energy of a giant cluster of gas billions of miles away awakens you to the feeling that you are a small thing in a big world. It’s a sobering but comforting thought as long as you are in good with the Creator of it all.

So this is the verse coming to mind I want to unpack:

“Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe. ”

Philippians 2:14-15

Longing for Legacy

Lets face it - we live in a jacked up, crooked, lukewarm, godless generation marked by debauchery, cynicism, complaining and a whole lot more. The only comforting thing is that it seems to be no different than during the time Paul wrote this letter thousands of years ago and God wants us more than ever to experience His fullness. What strikes me about this age though is how God is “pouring out His Spirit on all flesh” in the midst of all our issues! We are nearing the end of the story and He is longing to add more to Heaven’s squad before the games last trumpet sound. The sobering reality is that our character today is so increasingly horrible that we cannot contain and sustain what He is pouring out for any time before we implode and retreat back to the status quo. As my good friend Andy and I have been meditating on (Plug: We’re leading the Fire and Fragrance School launching in Kona, HI on Jan 09 – fireandfragrance.com), urgency is an easy find today among young leaders in the body but it’s the legacy part that is sorely missing. We must possess both if we are going to fulfill the mandate God has for this Davidic generation. The urgency to throw our life into His move around the globe at all costs and the legacy to stick with it to see it far outlast our children’s children. An older leader in the church came up to me three years ago with something I’ll never forget as Kate and I began this journey I refer to as “the pursuit of the Presence.” He said “Sean, I’m glad you are burning hot right now but I’m committed and contending to see you burning hot for the next 60 years – along with your children and their children.” I was marked and challenged by his words and they have not escaped me yet.

The Present Reality

I have been grieving this week while peering into the state of many my good friends, leaders in the body, my own heart, and the church culture that now “tolerates” a whole lot more in the name of grace. For some reason, it seems as if I’ve heard more bad news in the last two weeks about moral failure, marriage issues, and beyond than any other time of my life. Don’t get me wrong, we would all be goners if it wasn’t for grace and I want to live a life operating in greater capacity and understanding of this. But in our quest and zeal to become “non-religious,” “free,” and “practice grace” we have lost all sense of discipline, integrity, purity, and accountability. I have been just as guilty and God has heavily convicted my heart this night. There are many people who are preaching, teaching, and living a “soft” gospel that requires no sacrifice, repentance or suffering. They ask more questions than they have answers for, preach and write as polished politicians (with no absolutes) rather than honest God-fearing disciples, and want people to hear them talk more than experience a real demonstration of God’s power (1 Cor. 4:20). This coupled with an attempt to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ “convenient” to the microwave and instant generation is breeding a character-less, power-less, and foundation-less people that cannot possibly sustain or maintain the anointing and glory when it rolls in on us like a blazing furnace.

We need immediate repentance and divine restoration to see this trend reversed. We need adequate discipleship, authentic accountability, meaningful discipline, and a righteous man to strike us once in awhile (Ps. 141:5). We CANNOT miss our destiny as a generation to “shine like the stars” as we were created to be. The world is watching, waiting, and longing for it.

Time to Persevere

My purpose in writing this wasn’t to bring a depressive “we’re so messed up – there’s no solution – so deal with it” approach to our situation, but to offer hope that God is beckoning us to something greater than we know. A greater level of character, deeper insight, wisdom, and knowledge of the Word and the beautiful absolute truths it releases are necessary to help us carry what He’s pouring out. In the midst of the apathetic western lifestyle that demands low integrity and little commitment on our promises, refusal to risk out of self-preservation, and the gammit of “prophetic excuses” to back any of our selfish desires, WE MUST PERSEVERE AND BRING OTHERS INTO THIS CALL!!

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

Hebrews 10:22-24

We cannot join in with others and water down our beliefs and stances on everything from abortion to sanctity of marriage to pornography to our own personal verbal commitments. We must strive, contend, push, and move forward with “pure hearts” longing to “see God” (Matthew 5:8) by becoming a people of character that who value God, family, and authentic relationship above all else. We must passionately pursue becoming families and friends that are committed to one another in brotherly love and embody the gifts of the spirit (husbands and wife’s, fathers and mothers to sons and daughters). This is dangerous and risky living that will turn the world and MTV culture upside down! It is our destiny, calling, and the fullness of the Kingdom!! We must PERSEVERE!!

I’ll leave with it then with this last verse:

“He who’s coming will come and NOT delay, but my righteous one will live by faith and if he shrinks back, I WILL NOT BE PLEASED WITH HIM.

BUT WE ARE NOT OF THOSE WHO SHRINK BACK AND ARE DESTROYED, BUT OF THOSE WHO BELIEVE AND ARE SAVED!!!”

Hebrews 10:37-39

LET US NOT SHRINK BACK BURN CREW AROUND THE GLOBE!!! LETS ADVANCE, RUN, BURN AND LIVE LIVES WITH BOTH URGENCY AND LEGACY IN MIND!! LETS BECOME THE BRIGHT AND BLAZING STARS IN A CROOKED AND DEPRAVED GENERATION!! LETS BE BURNING TOGETHER WHEN WE’RE 70 YEARS OLD AND PASS IT DOWN TO OUR CHILDRENS AND THEIR CHILDREN!!!

8 years later and He is faithful

This weekend was a marker in the history of my life.

Not just because 70,000 lovers of God filled the Mall in Washington DC for 12 hours of fasting, prayer, and worship contending for revival in America during The Call DC and I was honored to be apart in rumbling some prayers off during the day. Not just because I celebrated my 25th Birthday with all my best friends and family at the Global Burn Summit (which was epic!!). Not just because I have the most gorgeous wife in the world who has loved me for over 8 years now (high school sweethearts).

It symbolizes an 8 year season of divine faithfulness, growth, and favor in God that I cannot and will never forget.

Living in Chesapeake, VA eight years ago, I was about to turn 17 years old and heading into my junior year of high school and football camp. I loved God and grew up in the church where my dad was a pastor. I had just learned to play guitar that summer (mom bought me a guitar) and wail my heart out during our youth group meetings held in the primary public school building we rented down the street from my house. No plasma screens or smoke machines, no great sound system, and no gimmicks in those days…it was just a messy gathering of 300-400 self-absorbed American suburban high school friends that were hungry for the reality of Jesus and His Presence. And we got it.  He showed up time and time again in spite of the poor musical ability and fickle hearts.

It was the aroma of our unbridled passion that drew Him near and our recognition of desperation and brokenness that kept Him near.

In the summer of 2000 we all headed up to something called “The Call” in Washington DC. We didn’t really know what we were getting ourselves into or what is was about…but of course we weren’t going to pass up a last “horrah” trip to DC before school kicked in on monday. When I stepped onto the grass of the National Mall that day with over 400,000 Americans (mostly from my generation) praying, worshipping and genuinely crying out to God for the sake of the nation - something shifted in the deepest parts of my being.

I still cannot really articulate the depth of what happened in that moment. All the lies, constraints, and bondages of culture, religion, and the “American Dream” were severed off my life and I breathed the air of freedom in. Courage, faith, and hope rushed like fountain through the pores of my skin seeping into the depth of my heart and compelled me to believe the wildest things I’ve ever thought and dreamed before. A surge of His Presence and favor washed over my life as I spent the next 12 hours praying, fasting, repenting and worshipping. He marked me that day. He sealed my heart (Song of Solomon 8:6) for good and I would never be the same again.

The journey began and I was “commissioned” to follow the dreams of my heart and wind of the Spirit.

The nostalgia experienced was overwhelming to me as I walked back onto the Mall this past Saturday with our whole BURN crew from around the world (I love you all like family!!). Memories of 2000 couldn’t help but come rushing forth. God birthed a life vision and mandate in my heart that day that haunts me every waking moment of my life. I beheld a vision of a growing army made up of nameless and faceless “burning ones” scattered all over the globe. They were positioned in every nation, tribe and tongue and releasing a burning and fragrant incense that rose in fires all over the earth. As God was sitting high above the earth in the heavens, He began to breath this smoke and incense of vertical worship into His nostrils. This so pleased the Lord that He poured down the rain of revival, blessing, and salvations (end time harvest!) all over the earth.

Revelation dawned on me that He would not come back to Bride or people that did not want Him or were not ready. He was looking for those who would stir up zeal and worship until every tribe, tongue and nation agreed “Let the Spirit and the Bride say COME” (Rev. 22:17).

Its been 8 years, a beautiful wife, a wonderful family, the best friends of my life, a college degree, over 15 countries, lots of battle wounds through sacrifice and pain, 50 burning cities, and a growing global army of worshipping burning warriors later and here I stand.

He is faithful and true. Always and forever. Don’t ever doubt or question it. We still have a long way to go, but that is a lesson of a lifetime.

“I will sing of the Lords great love forever, with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.”

Here I go…trying to wrap up the last 24 hours isn’t gonna be easy (much less summarizing the entire journey)…forgive me in advance for all the details I’m going to leave out. For the sake of those that get easily overwhelmed with too many words on my blogs (wimps..haha : )…

THE MAKING OF MODERN HISTORY

Right now I’m watching the finale of the Olympic opening ceremony in my hotel room less than 5 miles away from where it is taking place live in Beijing. This is a historic event not only for the Communist China but for the entire history of humanity. The date is 8.8.8. While we are getting some shuteye to catch an early flight out in the morning, the rest of the western world is just waking up.

Thousands of people from 204 nations are gathered together in the stadium eagerly awaiting the lighting of the Olympic torch. They are boisterously cheering and aggressively waving their respective flags as millions of people from around the world look on. It is quite possibly one of the most incredible things I’ve ever witnessed in my life. Presidents, Kings, stars, athletes…they are all there. The city is completely on lock down. And I thought Washington DC was bad! There is no way to explain the presence of police and military on the streets here. We just drove across the six rings of the city and there was not a sidewalk, street, and corner not completely covered with them. There vast power and authority is on display to the world tonight.

All the while something is raging behind a dark alleyway off a dirt road in an undisclosed location in the city that is shaking the earth and releasing a fragrance to heaven.

NEW BEGINNINGS UNVEILED

There is an electricity in the air that is impossible to articulate and its far more than Olympic hype. Something is shifting across the nations of the world TODAY. NOW. HERE. Simply put…as the world gathers here…God will not let ANYONE steal the spotlight. He always gets the last word.

As we gathered with the Beijing army (some even coming from inner Mongolia!!) to release the DNA of the BURN and vertical worship (with 3 cities of prep behind us)…we spilled our guts with all the revelation, teaching, and impartation we could muster on our final day to this hungry underground crew. I have NEVER felt a more urgent call to worship and pray. Pregnant with the most gut wrenching unction I’ve ever felt before…we collapsed on our face during the opening set and proclaimed this prophetic decree of our day:

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.”

ISAIAH 43:18-19. 21

That single moment of raw deep groaning together..Chinese and American…spirit to Spirit..was the reason we came. Something was transfered, shifted, and absorbed that I will never forget. An era of new beginnings was ushered on 8.8.8. We were thrown onto the stage of history with the company of the those whom the world isn’t worthy ( Heb. 11:38) and became the watchmen of not only China…but every tribe and tongue on earth.

I just heard the Olympic announcer of this ceremony become a voice of truth to city and nation as he declared this right now:

“Beijing: You are a host to the present [or THE PRESENCE] and a gateway to the future”

TIAN’ANMEN MADNESS GOES DOWN

The night before the BURN was to launch in Beijing…we arrived and had some stupid, crazy idea to go down in the middle of the communist chaos and stir it up even more. Throwing out all conventional wisdom but zeroing in on the voice of the Lord, we entered the square to join over 10,000 mainly chinese olympic-goers. We burned in front of the Mormon Temple open-air-style earlier this year in 5 degree weather (check out the youtube video) and with a healthy Biblical example (Gideon, Jericho, etc).. we put our 1 year multiple entry visas on the line while our underground friends prayed for us.

We blazed on the same stones that witnessed thousands of Chinese students cry for freedom and become brutally murdered for their demand in 1989. We became the voice of true freedom as we opened our guitars and djembes and let the sound rush forth. And they gathered. Hundreds circled around us within 2 minutes of the first chord strummed and that is NO exaggeration. Only God knows how many people were there before the police came through 20 minutes later. ALOT of sound came out in that time though and I doubt that worship has ever been heard there before.

Reporters, newspaper editors, TV anchors, university students..they all happened to be there at that time and HIS PRESENCE took center stage. After the first police car broke right through our holy huddle (not stopping for anyone…sound familiar??)…the people would not leave. They came back and requested more! So we went for round two and the numbers grew. This outraged the police and they brought two bigger vehicles through the second time. After the fourth interruption…we got the hint and ended with ecstatic prophetic declaration and people cheering. WILD!!

My favorite line was the last policeman driving through rolled down his window and said quietly to me (almost under his breath)…“please come back tomorrow.”

INTERVIEW WITH AL JAZEERA NEWS

Lucas, Caleb and I ventured in front of the massive Olympic Stadium (nicknamed the “Birds Nest”) to check it out and pray. Lucas was sharing this powerful dream he had on the plane flying to Beijing of the stadium as we were in front of it. In the dream, the powers of darkness were working to strangle out the glory of God and keep it bound over the nation..but the glory and Presence of God grew so strong that it burst forth and  broke every ancient yoke and bondage once keeping it back. As I was capturing this vision (to post it on youtube)..tons of people began to crowd around us. Up to the at point, we had been interviewed several times by China Daily and ESPN about the Olympics and the excitement in the air. None of us expected what was to come.

An Arab reporter named Kareem walks up to me and asks if he can interview me. I asked him what it was for and he responded with “Al Jazeera News.” He had no badges or press pass because he said the committee refused to grant them…but explained how he flew in from Qatar to cover the games. He asked me questions and I began to talk about how I feel God has a bigger plan for Beijing than even the Olympics and He was gathering the nations together for something even greater - A display of His glory!! He was a little baffled…but kept talking. He shared his story about his family back home in Iraq and the hardships they are enduring. We then began to pray for him while his recorder was still on!! I felt the Presence of God in that place and we all just stood there for a minute after the prayer feeling real good. He then invited us to come to Bagdad next summer..total confirmation for BURN BAGDAD 09 baby!!

I mean…what are the chances that God would bring a radical muslim from Al Jazeera news to come FIND US and then open the door for us to pray fire over him!! That is sure new beginnings for me!

A FRESH ERA

China has entered into something fresh and alive. The Tian’anmen Square episode represents an openness to this new sound God is ushering in on a mass level. The ravenous fire of the BURN now blowing wildly depicts the dry kindling [underground church] ready for something all consuming and new. Almost every Chinese pastor, apostolic leader, evangelist and worshipper we talked with across the nation repeated this phrase: CHINA IS READY FOR A NEW THING - WE NEED IT NOW MORE THAN EVER. A revelation coming to me was that persecution doesn’t blot out politics and religion in the underground church [trust me], they are alive and active due to our stinking flesh. But the church is unified in its plea for something fresh. They all want it and will give anything up for it. This desperate hunger to “forsake all” is what makes me weep and join together in their plea.

A fresh era is at hand in China and God is “raining down righteousness” and the “earth is opening wide” to receive it [Isaiah 45:8].

Let every nation, tribe, and tongue join together in this pursuit.

From a Bar to Beijing 
The supernatural ways of God have infected every day of our journey thus far. Divine encounters, powerful salvations, incredible healings, and the manifest Presence of God have marked us. We are out in the village on this beautiful mountainous island standing in the South China Sea off mainland China. There’s definitely a different feel out here from our first Burn launch in the fastest growing city in the nation (Shenzhen) and even from our second in the capital city of this province (Haikou). We are in a place where time somewhat stands still. Deemed the “Hawaii” of China, the island of Hainan is a popular vacation spot for the growing population of Chinese who can afford to travel. But the village we are in now is off the beaten path of vacationers.

Although you would think the government is somewhat relaxed and laid back in a place like this…think again. Please remember this is still China and NOT Hawaii. The week before we were coming out here…the host pastor of the first ever Burn in this region was arrested and brought in by the police on charges of suspicion. The government is anxious, worried, and fearful as the Olympics kick-off this friday and cracking down on anything they see as out of the norm. I guess a room crammed full of boisterous Chinese going for 24 hours of nation-shaking heart-pounding worship would raise a bit of an alarm!! Nevertheless…we could not deny the hunger of the people and so we moved locations to a place less common for a gathering like this - a sweet bar/nightclub. PERFECT!!!

Fire ripped through the place as the concept of vertical and Davidic worship was “caught” during the first set. We experienced something that has never happened during 24 hours of burning before - A WEDDING!! That’s right!! A couple that was denied a wedding by their family because of their love for Jesus desired be unified in the BURNING presence of God with all their radical worshipping friends!!! How amazing and prophetic is that?! This is definitely a prophetic picture of what God is doing in the nation today. He is longing for the true marriage of the lamb to take place across CHINA!! It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen happen in a BURN before and we were so honored to be apart of this event with the couple and their loving community.

There is much more to write but time is short and wifi is scarce. Tonight we depart for the final leg of our journey. We know God always saves the best wine for last and so we are expecting something to happen beyond our wildest dreams during our final Burn launch in Beijing. The entire world is gathering in that city this week…and God will ALWAYS get the glory when the attention of the world is at stake. We are contending for a mighty wave of God’s Presence to pour out of this burning furnace and wash over every tribe and tongue gathered there. We know God will manifest this through healings, salvations, miracles, and we’re elated at how this might all unfold.

Please pray for safety as we pass through the rigorous security process on our way into the city late tonight…we want to protect the precious lives of those leaders and pastors we’ll spent the last week with. They are forever in our hearts and they are BURNING like never before!

We’re gonna finish this off strong…but we covet, value and MUST have your prayers in this crucial hour!! We are confident in the truth of John 1:5 as we wrap up this assignment:

Writing you from an undisclosed location in China and can’t be too specific with info because of the massive scrutiny right now over all our emails and communication. Trust me…they are reading this :  ). We just launched our second BURN furnace in the midst of the intensity in the atmosphere leading up to the Olympics next week. It was an absolutely gorgeous time as we taught for 2 hours leading up to it on vertical worship, the tabernacle of David, and this global movement of worship raging across the world. THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS STUFF BEFORE!!! They are eating up every word and soaking in the revelation that these BURNS can change the atmosphere over their cities and nations. They are a people so sensitive to God’s Presence…they crumble when He enters the room and just began to weep, cry, dance, laugh, and worship with passion and devotion. During the past few BURN launches I’ve become completely overwhelmed by this movement God is releasing all over the world and not only that we get to be apart but are RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT!!!

THE FIRE IS RAGING IN CHINA AND THE UNDERGROUND CHURCH IS GRABBING HOLD OF IT!!! The places we are burning are tucked away and hidden in back alleys and behind curtains over doors. The pastors keep saying that this will revolutionize the entire nation and many have plans to travel and bring this to every province of the nation!! They some of the boldest people I’ve ever met.

PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!!! PRAY PRAY PRAY!!! WE NEED INTERCESSORS TO RISE UP!! PLEASE MEET IN YOUR CITIES, CHURCHES, AND FURNACES AND CONTEND FOR OUR TEAM AND FOR THE NATION OF CHINA!!  The town we are traveling to tomorrow has faced some fierce persecution leading up the our BURN there in a few days. A few pastors have been thrown into prison and taken from their families. The apostolic leaders in China say this is worst and most intense persecution they have faced since the 1970’s!!! The government is laying down the hammer leading up to the Olympics in Beijing next week when they will open their borders to the world.

I cant wait to show you all the videos, footage, and pictures I am capturing…its like out of a movie or something…absolutely unreal stuff!! Every time I try to post something little on youtube the government pulls it down…so I’m gonna stop trying!! Just know that things are blazing!! I just talked with our BURN INDO team and realized we BURNED together in conjunction with them in Borneo last night and we are both ending today!! We didnt even plan that!! God is igniting all of Asia with this stuff!!!

08.31.08 l Downtown Shenzhen l Southern China

I am in love with this country - period.

We haven’t even been on the ground in mainland China 48 hours yet…and we have already imparted our heart for BURN 24-7 with the apostolic pastors, worship leaders, and musicians (in a “short” 6 hour service yesterday), hung out and loved on precious children at a local orphanage, and are now 9 hours into our first of four BURN launches across the nation!! We dont play games on these trips people!! Time is short and the kingdom is at hand here!! We launched 24 hours of nonstop, passionate, vertical worship and prayer with the thriving underground church here in a small room tucked away on the 5th floor (grace!!) of a massive business skyscraper in the downtown of the fastest growing city in all of China!! There couldnt be a more strategic city to ignite this blaze in and I’ve never met a people more ready and hungry for it.

Shenzen is the “southern gate” of China and the largest port in the nation (3rd largest in the world!). Anything received and welcomed here quickly spreads throughout the entire country. So shall it be with this fire God is releasing as I’m typing now! The average age of the city population is under 30 years old and they are yearning for truth and life in the midst of the “economic boom” that has radically shifted the lives of evert Chinese citizen. I heard the prophetic declaration spoken from Hanna when we arrived two days ago: “these people are dry kindling…they are so ready for this!” She was so right and that statement has never been more true. I’ve never met people so tender towards the Presence of God. They just melt when He enters the room. They know their Jesus and He is keen to come visit them whenever they ask. They are a weeping, warring, waiting, hungry people and what I’ve learned from them in this short time has already changed my life!

This entire idea of Davidic night and day worship is a brand new concept in this nation. As we shared and taught on this yesterday with pastors and leaders around the city, they ate up every word we spoke and every prayer we prayed. They asked many questions and agreed that God’s Presence is the only hope to reach over 1 billion lost souls across the nation. Three things about what we’ve experienced have blasted me already.

1) As we strategized on how to plan this first of many BURNS…they suggested that we take 3 hour sets each because the typical 2 hours is just too short!! This is the first time in all my travels in planting the BURN furnaces across the world that I’ve ever heard this. We just couldnt deny them…so 3 hours it was!

2) I quickly realized that you don’t “lead” worship with the Chinese…there is no such thing. They blaze with all their heart towards Jesus and you just try to keep up with them!! They could easily do without you..that is a powerful revelation for the nations.

3) The pure simplicity of worship has hit me so hard tonight. I really struggled going into this BURN because they insisted that our team take the first  shifts while hundreds of eager NON-ENGLISH speaking Chinese were ready to worship with us. I tried to explain that it would be hard for them to understand and engage because I dont know any Mandarin or any of their songs. They taught me how to say “Jesus Come” and I knew that Hallelujah was pronounced the same (as in all languages). So that was enough to fill 3 hours of worship. THEY NEVER GOT TIRED OF SAYING THOSE SIMPLE WORDS…AND I REALIZED THAT I NEVER GOT TIRED EITHER!!

Maybe we make things too complicated in the West with our many crafty words. Maybe “Come Jesus” and “Hallelujah” is enough. It sure works over here in the fastest growing church in all of recording history.

Just some thoughts and revelations…We’re all getting blasted over here!! I’ve found myself just laying prostrate asking God for the same passion, zeal and fervor that drives them to weep, wail, groan, dance, and sing at the top of their lungs to their Father!!

Its beautiful, moving, and BURNING hot right now! Thanks for praying!

1.4 billion souls and over 20% of the total world population is at stake.

Its been one wild insane beautiful week leading up to our BURN CHINA team departure today from SFO. My week actually started out in the Bay Area pouring into the move stirring in hungry hearts off Market Street in downtown San Francisco. What is so great about this season we are living in marked by favor and unusual “nearness” to the Presence of God is that He is no respecter of persons, cities, or nations!! God doesn’t love China more than He loves America or Lakeland more than San Francisco!!!! Isn’t that beautiful! His ways are not our ways nor His thoughts our thoughts (Is. 55:8)! God is simply showing up wherever people are getting on their face, getting over themselves, and realizing life is worthless and the world is hopeless without a real demonstration of His power and Kingdom manifested on earth. So last Sunday night we went for it and God showed up like He’s been doing every night for well over a month with this tribe of passionate pursuers in Northern CA! We felt the wave of the Lord come with true repentance, authentic joy, and divine healings!

His power became stronger and stronger as the days of the week moved forward. We journeyed to Tyler on Wednesday for a night of consecration and worship with tons of ravenous youth kids contending for fire to be released all over East Texas.  It was by far the most passionate crew I’ve ever been with out there…an army is coming forth that will break off religion in that region! We followed this up the next night with powerful Burn Preview meeting in DFW and an open air tent “revival style” gathering in the Texas countryside the night after that!   I’m beginning to witness people flocking to any place where they feel God might show up…they are coming out of the woodwork…and He is meeting us!

In preparation for China…I’ve been watching some footage from the underground church and its completely wrecking me forever!  Witnessing hundreds of Chinese believers packed together in an underground cave for their daily routine prayer meeting at 430am and they are weeping, laying prostrate, groaning and crying out in sincere devotion and desperation will mess you up! And this is NORMAL for them!!  The passion far eclipses anything I’ve ever experienced before…it moves me to tears and leaves me aching for more.  Not that anything could prepare me for what we are about to encounter…but I have new levels of desire stirring my heart for His Kingdom to be revealed to mankind. I know its all been building for what we are about to be apart of.

Let me quickly clarify a few things. We are NOT going to China as pompous and arrogant westerners feeling they “need” anything we have to give. We are broken and spilled out vessels going to serve, learn, grow, worship, and pray. We all realize we just need MORE of Gods Presence poured out on the nation and that is what binds us together.  Some of the most incredible doors imaginable have flung wide open for us on this trip! I cant go into too much detail, but we’ll be working solely with the thriving underground church as we journey from Hong Kong to Beijing and everywhere in between teaching, releasing, imparting, and burning night and day with the most passionate lovers on the planet. I’m personally praying to receive the mighty and real impartation of HUNGER on levels I know not of. I’m sooo ready for it and I know I need it more now than ever before!!

The eyes of the world are on China in this hour as they host the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and welcome the nations of the world within the communist borders. China is taking center stage and demanding the attention of the world. We believe with the underground church that “her light has come!” (Is. 60:1) God has positioned this whole deal from the beginning of the foundations of the earth and has set it all up. HE OWNS THE STAGE OF HISTORY IN THIS HOUR AND NO ONE (government, leader, principality) WILL TAKE IT FROM HIM! To the outside world, China is marked by a booming economy and quickly emerging as the new world super power crushing anyone that stands in her way. To the Chinese believers, the nation is corrupt, godless, plagued by famine, tribal wars, earthquakes, drought, and in desperate need of another sovereign move of God.

So here we are again…at a true moment of desperation on behalf of a nation in crisis. If He doesnt show up, reveal himself, and pour out His presence - the Nation and its 1.4 billion souls have no hope. The show is set and the OVER 20% OF THE WORLDS POPULATION LIVING IN HER BORDERS IS WHAT IS AT STAKE!! Pray for us as we journey on the next two weeks following the voice of the Spirit and planting sustainable furnaces of vertical worship and prayer among the largest nation in the world. WE NEED YOU TO RISE UP AND ENGAGE HEAVEN WITH US!!

What began as a “normal” worship conference ended with the commissioning of an army of rabid young psalmists, musicians, and worshippers to cultivate and raise up places for Jesus to lay His head in their cities, nations, and lives. This great exchange shows the season and the times we are in. Who wants a “typical” or even just a “good” charismatic conference anymore anyway?? One word = LAME.

My expectations are so high now every time we gather together to seek His face that I’m really disappointed if I leave not seeing a different side of HIm than I’ve seen before!! Like Moses, my dream is to talk to God “face to face” (Ex. 33:11) as a man would his friend. In order to not literally die while this happens and ascend the “hill of the Lord” David warns that we must have “clean hands and a pure heart” (Ps. 24:4). While I believe God is granting a generation accessibility to Him on levels we’ve never thought were possible on earth, this always comes with a price. While most of us (me included) have no clue how much we have to sacrifice or our flesh must sizzle to get there…we are all saying the same thing -  “WE WANT YOU NO MATTER THE COST….NO MATTER THE PRICE!!”  LIFE IS JUST LAME WITHOUT YOU AND YOUR PRESENCE!! SO TAKE US THERE THAT WE MAY TRULY LIVE, EXPERIENCE TRUTH, AND DWELL WITH YOU!!

This was the very thing we taught, trained, and imparted to this massive crew of worshippers last weekend in Fort Mill, SC. Its a deeper and truer desire than just honing your skills (which is very important), learning your theory, and getting in the flow as a worship leader…but its the passion, zeal, and hunger for HIS FACE. This is where it all starts. Hunger drove this crew from California, Canada, Honduras, Austria, and even South Korea to this conference!! Talk about desperation! They were the face of a new wave of broken, random, beautiful, and hungry tribe longing for more.

Well, more is exactly what they got!! The last night of the conference, we honored Leonard Jones as a father of this massive global worship movement spreading like fire around the globe. As a cynical, arrogant and prideful generation…we must learn to HONOR those who have come before and labored among us!! The words of Bill Johnson are wise and timely in this season: “You cannot receive from what you don’t honor.” This simple act released something electric in the atmosphere and as John Mark and I released this Davidic worshipping mandate to BURN BRIGHT until the return of Jesus…the fire began to blaze in that room! SInce the conference was called “THE FURNACE” - I guess we got what we asked for! Arrows of passion and zeal were shot into the hearts of those in the room and people were so overcome with the fire of God that they could no longer stand. We thought we would end with releasing our sound of love and affection to the Father…so we lifted our voices together as one united instrument of praise. From that point forward, the sound didn’t stop until 7am the next morning!! They took the words to rebuild the tabernacle of David literal and they burned all night long!!  I could only make it until 2am before I was wiped…but they kept going and going and burning and burning!!

I’m beginning to realize that once this dream is caught…people don’t want to stop. Why should we stop them?! I say BURN ON BABY!! The widespread revelation God is sharing with His bride is the same thing He spoke to Mike Bickle in Cairo, Egypt many years ago: I’m going to change the face of the church in one generation.” I got news for you…HE IS GOING TO USE US TO DO IT!

EVERYONE OUT THERE - DON’T STOP BURNING UNTIL HE RETURNS…IN YOUR CAR, YOUR HOME, YOUR CHURCH, AND IN THE FURACE!! NEVER LET THE FIRE DIE!!
