Cops, Car searches, Pat-downs, and The Presence of God Invading Earth.

So I’m sitting in my car in a random parking lot with a buddy of mine and we are just talking about Jesus, signs and wonders, the Burn 24-7, Worship, the Kingdom coming down and invading earth, Urgency verses Legacy . . . you know stuff like that, when all of a sudden a cop car pulls into the lot and hits my car with their flood lights.

I’m like, “Whud-ever” (in a Kris Vallotton voice) and roll down my window and pull out my license and registration and keep on talking about the Kingdom of God being advanced throughout the earth. The cops ask how many drinks we have had (none) and say that we smell like alcoholic and have blood-shot eyes. I laugh as if this is some massive joke and thinking they are absolutely crazy. They ask us where we live and how we know each other our answers were near by and “we do prayer and worship stuff together.” HA.

Well the next question should be obvious, “Do you have any drugs or weapons in your car.”

I laugh/seriously!?!? (as if they are out of their minds) and say “no, would you like to search my car?”

“Yes, I would”

“Okay”

We get out of the car and they ask “do you have any drugs or weapons on you?”

“No would you like to search me?”

“Yup.”

We both get padded down. And then the cop that was searching my friend (Chris) begins to search the car. By this time I am thinking that this will make for a good story while kinda being annoyed at having to stand out in the cold. So, since I was already fired up about advancing the Kingdom, I figured I would use this slight inconvenience to advance the Kingdom and do some damage. I ask the Police man standing next to me if he has a wife or kids and a small conversation begins. He asks me about my church and I hesitate (describing a spirit-filled-prayer-contending-kingdom-centered-church is always a little hard) and then he says, “You said you do prayer and worship stuff?”

And BAM! I was off. “Yeah I work with an organization called The Burn 24-7 would you like my card?”

“Yeah I would actually yes” (he pockets it)

And next thing I know I’m telling him about 24-7 worship and prayer as if he asked me out to coffee learn more, holding nothing back. IHOP, Moravian’s,Tabernacle of David, Spontaneous worship, Revelation and worshiping on earth as they do in Heaven, Re-establishment of the Tabernacle of David. And why we do this the crazy stupid thing called night and day prayer, and how it is all about the heart of the Father and Intimacy with Jesus, and how it transforms cities and nations!

Before I knew it my car was done being searched and I was back in it–glad for the heat–and before I knew it was DRUNK! I could not stop laughing!

My friend said “It is a good thing that you weren’t like this when they came other wise they would really think that we were drinking.”

I replied, “No! I wish I was like this because then who know’s what would have happened–the power of God might have really just exploded. And then maybe they would have arrested me and I would have gone to jail and could have gotten 12 people in jail saved and signs and wonders, healing and deliverance would have taken place, and because of that the entire precinct would have come to know Jesus in one night because of the Power of God that follows the preaching of the Gospel.”

Man . . . Paul did it. Why not us? Why not you? Why not me?
Are we advancing the Kingdom or are we sitting on our hands?
Are we asking for more boldness after we are persecuted, or are we hiding from the world that Christ came to save in the pews of our church?
Are we stepping forward and being a testimony of Christ or are we ashamed of the gift that God gave?

There is more. There is always more.
Stop being sleeping and start contending.
There is nothing else left.
Just Jesus.

DNC: Till Kingdom Come.

When the Democrats came to Denver to nominate their candidate there was an air of excitement in every corner of the city. The Streets were packed with shirt venders, cops in riot gear, celebrities, and the people of God in full force being who they were called to be.

We called ourselves One Metro Denver—about 60 churches and hundreds of lovers of Jesus committed to acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly—all so that the world may truly see Him and know His love for them. During the four days of the Convention thousands of bottles of water, tubes of chapstick and travel-size bottles of sunscreen were handed out to everyone being assaulted by the mile-high air and the scorching sun—so that I midst of the politics of politics we could radically transform our community by addressing tangible needs. As some people were addressing people’s physical needs, others were addressing spiritual thirst.

Teams of people were our worshipping for four days straight in a tent perfectly situated on river leading up to the Pepsi Center, where the convention was held, others prayer-walked the streets of downtown, or just worshipped hippie style in the streets—all aimed at bringing the Presence of God, and creating an atmosphere where the name of the Lord is lifted up above every other name. We were painfully aware that what we were doing is not of this world, or political system. We were warring in the unseen realm so that the physical realm that we can see would drastically change, because in the light of God there is no darkness, and we—the people of God—are called to bring his Light.

In the mists of all the throngs of people, media coverage, and nominating a candidate for president, I found myself dwelling on how we are not of this world. We are aliens, foreigners, sojourners.  We are apart of another world, another Kingdom, another government.  We are called to make this earth like Heaven, to make this temporary home like the place where the Ancient of Days dwells until “the earth [becomes] filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). No democrat, no republican, no political system can bring the change we need—only the Presence and Glory of God can bring true and lasting change. We aren’t looking to a Democrat or a Republican president for hope, change or stability—we are looking to Christ. We are contending for, and eagerly awaiting, the fullness of Kingdom and the Government of God to take dominion over this earth. And while submitting to Caesar what is Caesar’s, we—ambassadors of the Lord—are violently pushing the kingdom forward, preparing the way for the reign of Christ,

In Denver, we didn’t just give bottled water to parched bodies, but we were unleashing streams of living water to a parched land. A land that is not Democratic or Republican, but a land that belongs to the Creator, to the one who is making all things new, to the one coming to Reign: Jesus.

Burn Denver “Preview”

Saturday Oct 18th, 2008
6pm @ Summit Four Square Church in Longmont

What is the Burn Preview?

The Burn Preview is designed to gather regional leaders of churches, houses of prayer, and ministries; worship leaders, prayer leaders, AND everyone with a passion for sustained vertical worship and prayer in the region. The Preview provides a time to connect, find out more about the vision of the Burn, and have a corporate Burn experience.

Preview evenings are designed for encountering the Presence of God through Minstrel lead worship and intercession, biblical teaching on Davidic Tabernacle Worship and the Prophetic role of the Arts in modern culture as well as hands-on ministry and impartation. Since Burn Denver launched in December of 2006, we have had 11 Burns (almost once a month) ranging from 12-72 hours of worship and intercession, and the presence of the Lord has never failed to shown up in powerful ways. This is an opportunity to gather corporately from across the region and seek the face of the Father.

Help us spread the Word! The Tabernacle of David is rising and the King of Glory is coming in splendor and power

Address:

703 17th Ave
Longmont, CO 80501
